Rev. Ronnie White
(Retired)

Elder Ronnie D. White is a native of the state of Texas, where he lived with his parents, seven brothers, and three sisters. His parents raised the family in the Baptist faith. At the age of seventeen, he enlisted in the United States Army, and served three years of active duty. He received an honorable discharge in 1961 and shortly after, moved to Los Angeles, CA. In 1965, he began a career with the County of Los Angeles.

In 1969, Ronnie met Pearl Lockhart; they married in 1970. From this union, they have been blessed with two sons, their wives, and five grandchildren.

From 1970 to 1997, Ronnie and Pearl were members of the New Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor M. M. Merriweather. Elder White was ordained a Baptist Minister in 1993. While serving as an Associate Minister, he attended Bethany Bible College and California State University – Dominguez Hills. He received his Bachelors in Biblical Studies in June 2000.

In March 1998, after 32 years of service, Elder White retired from county service as a Senior Purchasing Agent. It was during the same time that he and his wife united with the New Philadelphia A.M.E. Church, under the leadership of Rev. Sherman Gordon.

Elder White began serving as the Minister of Visitation immediately after uniting with New Philadelphia. While serving in this capacity, he completed all the required A.M.E. ministerial classes. He was ordained an Itinerant Elder in October 2001, under Bishop Vernon R. Byrd. In November 2004 he was appointed Assistant Pastor under Rev. Gordon.

There were occasions (prior to the addition of the baptismal pool at New Philadelphia) when Elder White would baptize new members at Central Baptist Church, Carson, CA. Elder White teaches Bible Study each Thursday at Noon, is a New Members teacher, a member of the Male Chorus, and the Seasoned Saints Ministry. He serves faithfully as the Minister of Visitation under the leadership of Pastor Darryl Walker. Along with his other duties, he performs weddings, funerals, and volunteers four (4) hours a month at the Los Angeles Mission.
