Rev. Sheila Issac


Rev. Sheila Isaac was born in Wichita, KS. She moved to Long Beach, CA with her family in the early 1950’s. She attended Long Beach Unified Scholl District and she graduated from Long Beach Poly High School. She holds an Associate of Arts degree in Theology from Norwalk Community College, Norwalk, CA. She received numerous certificates in Children’s Ministries at the Child Evangelism Fellowship, Inc., in the city of Bellflower, CA.

Rev. Isaac accepted the call to ministry under the leadership of Pastor Stephen Pierson in 1990-91. She received her license to preach in 1992 from Edward P. Williams, Sr. Presiding Elder of the Los Angeles-San Diego District. She was ordained in 1995, where she received her certificate as an Itinerant Deacon, under the leadership of Bishop Vinton R. Anderson.

She has a passion for children. She initiated Children’s Church at Grant A.M.E. Church, Long Beach, where she served for many years. She also served as the director of the Vacation Bible School (VBS), Superintendent of the Sunday School Dept., Director of the Class Leaders, Director of the Nursery, and Assistant Director of the Senior Usher Board. Rev. Isaac enjoys teaching Sunday School to toddlers and young children.

Rev. Isaac ‘s hobbies are baking, knitting, latch hooking, reading, listening to music, gardening, and putting puzzles together.

She is currently employed by the L.A. County Dept. of Public Health, Children’s Medical Services, as a Rehabilitation Therapy Technician serving the “Special Needs” population for many years.

She is married to James M. Isaac. Together they have three sons, six grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
